How to get local news with Google News
Google has been running a news aggregator for a while now so that you can get your news from a number of sources. You can also use Google to capture local news for you from local sources. Here's how.
Go to http://news.google.com and wait for the page to load. You will soon see a page that contains many news headlines.
If you are not signed in with your Google account, go to the upper right hand corner and click "sign in". If you don't have a Google account, you can still click "sign in" and set one up.
Click on "Edit this personalized page" on the right hand side near the top.
Click on "Add a local section" in the screen that appears.
Enter your zip code or city and state and click "Add section". The section will then appear.
Repeat as needed. You can add more than one local section.
- Sometimes Google News will dig up an old article that has become popular again. Before you make any large decisions based on the news that you get from Google News, check the date of the article to make sure it is actual new news.
